New songs by Colours Run

If you want to know about my story with Tim Cameron and his band Colours Run, check out my previous post about it. In summary: back when I was a teen, until I was eighteen or so, I used to frequent some comedy forums named PWOT, where an English fellow by the name of Tim Cameron, and nickname of Camerhil, posted his songs. I found him brilliant. You had the sense that this guy opened his heart up to you. It’s like he felt he had little time to do that in this world, so he was in a hurry to make it somewhere with his music. In 2007 or so, along with his bandmates, he published an album, and then he disappeared to the US and was never heard from again. I never heard from him again, at least. As far as I can tell, you can’t even buy his works these days.

I used to treasure his songs, but I had lost most of them along the way. It was almost a miracle that I came across a twenty-year-old CD with about eleven songs of his, and that was all I had left. Last night, though, a kind soul gave me an early Christmas present; turns out that there are other former PWOT members out there who loved Tim’s music.

Without further ado, here are the missing Colours Run songs (apart from a few ones that are, let’s say, only for former PWOT members).

Hello! I played the electric guitar for Colours Run for a while back in the day. I don’t know why Tim has taken most of that stuff down but it’s good to see someone has kept some of it for posterity. I’m quite proud of some of the stuff I did on the Doghouse Demos (Pilot Light, On My Side and Beautiful Waste of Time (demo) from the Unknown section were recorded there, too, by the way) and the Sticks E.P.

The Sticks has always been one of my favourites because it was the closest we ever came to a band written song. Tim came to us with the bare bones of a song that he had hadn’t finished and we fleshed it out into what I think was one of our best tunes, but maybe I’m biased… We were all listening to a lot of Arcade Fire at the time… can you tell?

They were fun times, anyway! Thanks for the trip down memory lane…

    1. Very nice to hear from you. Sad to hear, though, that Tim seems to have disappeared from the map even for his former bandmates.

As I mentioned in at least one of the posts about Colours Run, I found an old CD that contained just a few of the songs from back in the day, and it was through posting those songs here that another fan contacted me and sent me all he had, which included many songs I had never heard. I get semi-regular hits of people searching for Colours Run, which means that plenty of people out there (or the same people, repeatedly) still remember those good times.

You have every right for being proud for the stuff you guys did on that music. I used to be heavily into music back then (sadly, I haven’t connected with pretty much any new music since 2015 or so), and Colours Run was in rotation among Modest Mouse, Arcade Fire, Joanna Newsom, Wolf Parade… You guys should have made it big, but I suppose this is how it goes more often than not. I’ve done plenty of art-related stuff myself and still rely on regular employment.

Anyway, I hope all of you are doing well.
